On October 29, 2020, I sat down via Webex with Hal Brooks, the CEO of HaystackID. Hal and I covered how to best choose an eDiscovery partner, the influence of the global pandemic on both information governance (IG) practices and remote document review, and a host of other topics.
Hal has served as the CEO of HaystackID since 2018. HaystackID recently merged with NightOwl and offers, along with eDiscovery technology and litigation support, its ReviewRight remote document review services. A long-time industry veteran, Hal previously served as Regional Vice President of Ikon Document Services/Atlanta Legal Copies, and founded Onsite, a litigation support company.
Embracing Remote Reviews During COVID
Hal explains how companies have embraced remote review, stating, “The demand was such that we actually had to go out and expand our hardware and our security software infrastructure to accommodate the workload.”
What is the Deciding Factor for Choosing eDiscovery Partners?
Hal discusses the need to have “exceptional and experienced professionals” who are committed and passionate, and consistently deliver success.
The Importance of Information Governance during the Pandemic
Hal explains that “information and data governance has certainly been promoted into the spotlight of the work from home that the pandemic has created and sort of accelerated.”
Integrating Outside Counsel with eDiscovery Partners
Hal discusses that the ultimate goal is to work with outside counsel in order to ensure that the client has the opportunity of a fair and reasonable outcome.
